Sled Dogs Rank First In All Categories
SKYRINK, July 15, 2006 – The Sled Dogs outplayed the Ordinals in every facet of the game tonight and skated away with a solid team victory. The game was not as close as the score indicates as the Dogs controlled much of the play and generated many more offensive chances than the Ordinals.
Sled Dog leading scorer Jack Whalen continued his impressive play and added to his team leading scoring total with the Sled Dogs first goal of the night early in the first period. Whalen’s line spent a lot of time in the offensive zone applying pressure and creating scoring opportunities but could only notch the one early goal.
The Sled Dogs defense was also at the top of its game tonight despite playing with only two lines. The Ordinals had very little puck possession and minimal pressure on substitute Sled Dogs goalie Dom Ardolino who made solid saves when he was tested. Defenseman Chris Morse scored the Dogs second goal exploiting a big hole in the Ordinals Defense.
The scoring play developed out of the Sled Dogs deadly transition game as left-winger Matt Hall carried the puck deep into the offensive zone. Hall, who had numerous chances throughout the game, saw the open ice and fed a cross-ice pass to line mate Evan Goldstein who redirected the puck to the hard charging Morse who then blasted the puck past the shell-shocked Ordinals goalie.
“I’m not sure if that Red Wings jersey the goalie was wearing was meant to intimidate us or not,” said Morse, “but I don’t think anyone is scared of Red Wing goaltending these days.” Certainly not the Sled Dogs.
Despite the dominant effort, the Dogs, clinging to a one goal lead, had a scare late in the third as their penalty kill was needed with five minutes left to play. They proved up to the task, however, and celebrated their 4th win of the season.
The Sled Dogs next game is July 22 at 11:30pm vs. Blizzard.

Howard, You always fail to mention yourself. Therefore, may I add: Thanks for the encouraging words before, between periods and after the game. Go Dogs!
